    Fencing Services in Rotorua

From new fence installation to repairs, painting and gates — one point of contact for your whole project.

    Timber Fencing New Zealand
    Timber Fencing

Timber fencing gives Rotorua backyards a private, practical boundary. We build paling fences and screens for outdoor living areas, with the fence line fitted to the shape of the section.

    Aluminium Fencing New Zealand
    Aluminium Fencing

Aluminium fencing defines the front garden without closing it off. Powder-coated panels provide a clean finish for Rotorua homes, with open spacing that keeps the entrance and planting visible.

    Pool Fencing New Zealand
    Pool Fencing

We fit pool fences with self-closing, self-latching gates to separate swimming areas from the surrounding garden. Open panels retain visibility while giving the pool its own enclosed space.

PVC & Vinyl Fencing New Zealand
    PVC & Vinyl Fencing

PVC panels create a consistent boundary finish without the painting cycle of timber. For Rotorua homes, they offer a straightforward way to screen a backyard or tidy a street frontage.

Steel / Metal Fencing New Zealand
    Steel / Metal Fencing

Steel fencing gives Rotorua yards and driveways a substantial edge. Around the geothermal areas we steer away from bare steel, because the sulphur in the air gets to it quickly.

    Chain Link Fencing New Zealand
    Chain Link Fencing

For a larger Rotorua section, chain link encloses long boundaries without blocking the outlook. It's suited to yards and open areas where the priority is separation rather than privacy.

    Fence Repairs New Zealand
    Fence Repairs

We repair tired timber fences by replacing failed posts, rails and palings. Sound sections can stay, giving an older Rotorua boundary a useful repair without unnecessary replacement.

Fence Painting & Staining New Zealand
    Fence Painting & Staining

Stain retains the character of the timber; paint gives a solid-colour finish. We prepare and coat Rotorua fences to refresh weathered boundaries and bring garden screens back into the picture.

    Garden Fencing New Zealand
    Garden Fencing

We build privacy screens and garden fencing for Rotorua's stepped sections. The fence can define a raised garden or seating area, with the design suited to the existing levels.

    Gates for Fences New Zealand
    Gates for Fences

Side gates keep backyard access separate from the main driveway, while larger gates close wider entrances. We fit gates to Rotorua fences so the opening works with the surrounding boundary.

Common Questions About Fencing in Rotorua

Under the Building Act, most fences up to 2.5 m high don't need a building consent. Height limits at the road boundary and in some zones are set by the Rotorua Lakes Council District Plan, and swimming-pool barriers always need consent and inspection. We'll tell you what applies to your section when we quote. See the Rotorua Lakes Council website and the MBIE building consent exemptions guide.

Pool barriers must be at least 1.2 m high with self-closing, self-latching gates, and they need a building consent and a council inspection every three years. We build to the Building Code barrier requirements and can arrange the inspection paperwork.

In geothermal zones we avoid unprotected steel, which corrodes in the sulphur air, and recommend treated timber, aluminium or powder-coated products with stainless fixings.

A typical 30–40 m boundary fence takes two to three days on site once we start. Longer runs, retaining or gates add time. We confirm your start date when you accept the quote, and it's usually within a few weeks depending on the season.

Yes. Removal and disposal of the existing fence is quoted as a line item so you can see the cost, and we take it away the same day we start.

Under the Fencing Act 1978, neighbours normally share the cost of an adequate boundary fence equally. You need to give your neighbour written notice with the proposed fence and cost before work starts. We'll give you a quote you can share with them, and we can build once you've agreed.

The Real Fencing team in Rotorua

Rotorua's pumice soils are easy to dig but hold posts poorly, so we go longer and concrete every post. In the geothermal areas around Ngāpuna, Ōhinemutu and parts of Whakarewarewa, sulphur in the air corrodes unprotected steel quickly, so we steer toward treated timber, aluminium or powder-coated products and stainless fixings. Sections here tend to be larger than in the big cities, which makes post-and-rail and long timber boundary runs common, and the high rainfall means good ground clearance under timber palings.
